It is native to the Eastern half of the United States from Texas to Florida. It is naturally found in forests and along coastal dunes and is very drought tolerant once established.
HABITAT & HARDINESS: Muhlenbergia capillaris ranges from Massachusetts to Florida, west from Kansas to Texas and into Mexico. This species grows in dry open woods and savannas with acidic or calcareous sandy or gravelly soil.
